KIDSPEAK
A signature program of Michigan’s Children, this youth public forum empowers young people ages 16-24, who are aging out of the foster care system, to advocate on their own behalf by bringing them before a panel of state legislators, other public officials and community leaders to speak out on issues of concern to them.
This event also gives policymakers a rare opportunity to hear the voices of young people and more clearly understand the impact of public policy on their lives. When given the opportunity, in ways both poignant and powerful, young people can change the way adults make decisions.
The 2013 KidSpeak® youth public forum was held on August 12, 2013 from 10:00 am to noon at the WSU College of Law, Damon Keith Center for Civil Rights, in Room 2242, 471 West Palmer Street, Detroit, MI 48202.
