Veunita Garrison
Hello, my name is Veunita Delphine Garrison. For me, life is all about winning. I am a very competitive person and I strive to do my best at everything. Growing up in Foster Care, I had my share of failures. Most of my life I have been the underdog, never having a real place to call home, or any consistent friends. I failed at sports and I was shy. In the past many situations have discouraged me from following my dreams.
Most of my life I have had opportunities pass me by because I was too shy, and I didn't have anyone to believe in me. After my first big accomplishment, graduating high school, I decided that I can do whatever it is I want. I will not be a victim of circumstance but a scholar of situations. Shortly after high school I enrolled in community college, I joined the MYOI youth board for foster youth, and I started an online fashion/life-style magazine to give young girls great role models to look up to. My first semester of school was great, I am now the Vice President of MYOI, and my magazine has over 2000 fans.
I am like a deep blue sea; I go with the flow and can adapt to any shape. I make the best of many situations. I am flexible and courageous when I need to be, I also know when to step back and let someone else have their moment. I have the ability to listen, really listen, analyze, and solve. Because of my past I am empathetic to others. My number one goal in life is to spread love, self-worth, and confidence among youth all over the world. I will not stop until I accomplish my goal. I have a clear understanding of what needs to be done to complete my dream and I will not stop until I succeed.
I was a foster child. I had low self-esteem. I dreamed of being happy and now I am. I am an independent woman. I am a strong confident person. I am a winner; I am Veunita Delphine Garrison.

Sydney Williams
I am currently a high school student a senior to be exact. I have been enrolled at East English Village since the fall of 2012. Throughout my high school years I have been on the honor roll and awarded good citizenship. I also have taken 3 Honors classes and a class known as Leadership. Leadership is a class for students who seem to be respectful, well mannered, intelligent, and likely to succeed.
Although, it may seem as if my life has been perfect, that is not necessarily the case. There have been many endeavors and halts that have driven me to be successful and accomplish many of the goals that I have. One major let down was losing my parents and having to transition to foster care; it took me to a place of dejection. I began to convince myself I would never get through it, but it made me stronger.
Eventually, I had to get back in the game, and having these pauses in my life made it harder to jump back in. Work became harder, and there was no time for mistakes if I planned on achieving long-term goals. I decided to join the softball and volleyball team so that my grades would stay decent. I also began to volunteer in the neighborhood for things such as Good Fellow and some other activities involving people. I did this so that I would have no time to do things that could possibly hinder my future.
I am now in control of my life and on the right path, taking the right steps to make my future play out the way I envision; graduating high school, becoming a student at WMU (Western Michigan University) and ultimately opening my own funeral home after becoming a coroner.
