The Butterfly Effect and HB 5775
The Butterfly Effect is a metaphor describing how one small action within a complex system can have a major impact.
So, for folks who cannot meet with their legislators in person regarding HB 5775 (https://www.tipwaynestate.org/tip-wayne-state-legislation.html), here are two small actions that you can take that will help our legislation to move forward:
#1) Submit testimony in writing to the Committee Clerk.
Your voice can impact committee members, so below you will find the contact information for the Committee Clerk for the Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors.
Committee Clerk: Angie Lake
517-373-5795
[email protected]
If you have a moment, you can email your testimony to the Clerk and she will enter it into the committee record. If you choose to send testimony, include "Testimony regarding HB 5775" as your subject line.
Your testimony can be as short as one small paragraph stating your support for protecting a vulnerable population like foster care youth from identity theft.
#2) Call or Email Committee Members Directly.
Reverend Kate Thoresen of the Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care has sent out a complete contact list of the Michigan House Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors. I have attached this list below so that you can call or email members. A 30 second phone call or a simple paragraph declaring your support for HB 5775 adds energy to our cause.
